History

My name is Sarah Young and I am the History Lead at Cranham.

I have always loved history and have vivid memories of history lessons when I was at school. From dressing up as a Roman solider to taking part Olympic style games and going on a trip to the National History Museum. It was always a subject that I found enjoyable and interesting. History is a subject that I have become so much more fascinated with as I have become older! There is so much to learn and wonder.

At Cranham, we ensure that we provide children with a wealth of enrichment opportunities linked to History. We have speakers into school, go on school trips and have themed days. All of these enhance the teaching and learning of history in our school.

Through our curriculum, our mini historians become more curious about the past and thrive on developing their knowledge and understanding about what happened a long time ago.  As children move through the school, they become more aware of future jobs and careers that might be of interest to them in preparation for the next phase of their learning journey. Children thoroughly enjoy learning about archaeologists, building inspectors, explorers and many more.
