My name is Rebekah Smith and I am the subject leader for English. This encompasses reading, writing and oracy at Cranham.

Becoming confident readers and writers is crucial for our children to be able to be successful across the curriculum and in life. By equipping our children with the ability to decode as early as possible, they are able to read widely and for pleasure, unlocking new knowledge and making connections across the curriculum that will help our children to achieve their aspirations later in life.

My favourite part of the school day is sharing a book with a class; I love to see children get hooked into a plot and want to read more!
