My name is Lorraine Banks and I am the subject leader for Computing at our school. I believe computing is fundamental and a vital part of our broad and balanced curriculum. It is part of our everyday lives and our children’s future. My vision is for every child to be able to use technology in an ever-changing world as a problem solver, collaborator and imaginative thinker.
The aim of our computing curriculum is to engage children with technology to help them understand the world around them. In this fast-paced world, it is important that we equip children with the skills to explore their environment and understand how things work. Most importantly, pupils learn to be responsible users of technology to engage and thrive in the digital world. It is at the forefront of all lessons and is embedded through assemblies and e-safety days throughout the year.
I am excited to discover what we will develop next, what new technologies we will create and how this will change our lives. Cranham’s computing curriculum is only the beginning. What can our children discover? What are they inquisitive about? What can they teach us?
