Meet and Greet.

It was lovely to meet and chat to many of you at the meet and greet session on Monday 11th September. We hope you enjoyed looking around the classrooms and meeting all of the Year 2 staff. Hopefully many of your questions about life in Year 2 were answered during the presentation or later in the classroom.

I have included a copy of the presentation for any parents who were unable to come on the night.

Important Class Information.

Dangers and Delights of the Sea.

This term we are learning all about the dangers and delights of the sea.

We learnt all about Little Boat and the great journey he went on to meet his friends. At the beginning of the story he felt very small in the big ocean all by himself. Once he was with his friends he had a fantastic adventure. We created a text map to help us to remember the story.

We  have enjoyed reading lots of poems about the seaside and identifying rhyming words. We also read Commotion in the Ocean. It is a rhyming book which describes lots of different creatures in the sea.

There are lots of different animals in the sea and we have been learning different facts about them.

No Pens Wednesday.

Wednesday 4th October was no pens Wednesday. We did lots of exciting activities about Harvest without doing any writing!

Maths Day: Thursday 19th October

Today we learnt all about Rangoli patterns and made some of our own.

Children in Need

Just to say a big 'thank you' to all the parents who donated cakes for Children in Need. You have helped us to raise nearly £400. The children had a great time dressing up as their favourite heroes and villians. It was a very exciting day because we also went to the Vue Cinema too!

Space Explorers.

This week we have started our new topic all about space. On Monday we all had a great time in the Explorer Dome learning about the planets and stars in our solar system. Thank you to the PTA who part funded our Explorer Dome experience.

In design technology we have designed, made and evaluated our own fairytale pop up puppets.
