Welcome to Holly Class for your final year at Cranham.
Every day in Holly Class you will see: Mrs Jeynes and Mrs Wilson, and on a Friday, you will also see Mr Higgins.
We are all here to help make this a brilliant year.
Our focus for homework this term is reading, spellings and maths.
- We would strongly encourage you to hear your child read at least twice a week, even if they are an independent reader as this allows them to become more fluent. We would also encourage you to discuss what they have read, including the plot, characters and any unfamiliar vocabulary.
- Spellings: Children need to be proficient with the key words from Years 3 & 4 (this was sent home during the Summer holidays but more copies can be obtained from the teacher). In addition to these the children are also working from the Year 5&6 key word spellings and these will sent home a weekly basis in order for them to learn.
- Maths homework will be set using the program 'MyMaths' and log on details have been sent home with your child. Activities will be set on a weekly basis with tutorials and practice questions to help your children in their learning.
- There is no topic homework this term, but there is a reading challenge that we would like the children to complete. They have been sent home with a Bingo Reading Mat and we would like them to read books that cover the criteria laid out on the map (each one being worth 5 points). Once they have read the book, we would like them to complete a summary of their book in their reading journal.
